A grand old time but at an entry fee that could be afforded by all. That's the selling point of the Samsung Galaxy Grand, with its large, phablet-sized screen and lower-than-high-end price. It marries performance and affordability to create a premium smartphone that wouldn't break the bank.

For what is expected to be a mid-range device the Samsung Galaxy Grand has somewhat unusual specs, sporting a 5-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display rather than a HD screen, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing one, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microSD memory card slot.

This is where similarities with the GALAXY SII end, as the Galaxy Grand boasts Android 4.1 at least with Multi Window display so you can run 2 apps concurrently or watch a video in a pop screen while browsing. It also features Smart Alert to see miss calls and text messages just by picking up the phone, and S Voice which is basically voice activation for a lot of phone functions.
